Making The Most Of Turn-Key Businesses

Author: Murray Hughes

Getting Started At Home in Your Very Own Business

Have you given consideration to the different models we touched on?

I know what its like when you decide to start your very own business. You become blinded by the dollar signs in your eyes, believe the hype and rush your decisions so you can begin cashing the checks 'yesterday'.

Take a step back and heed this advice.

The quickest way for you to build your empire is to do plenty of research before you make any important decision regarding your business.

I learned this wisdom from hindsight, because my desire to get it done NOW has more than once resulted in me cutting corners and ending up with a poor or worse outcome.

So listen closely...

Like I mentioned earlier in this series, turn-key businesses are usually network marketing, otherwise known as M.L.M (multilevel marketing). You sell a product or service and you try to get other people to join your team and sell as well. Usually you will make a lot more money if you devote your efforts to getting others to join your team.

Some products or services are well suited to this type of business. Example:

Health and nutrition - supplements, vitamins, products for slimming down etc

Communications - cell phones, voip (voice over Internet, expect this to be big as technology improves and more people switch to high speed connections) Business - monthly learning tools for learning about and growing a business

With turn-key businesses, the most important decision you will make is choosing a business in which you have a real chance of getting somewhere. There are many around and the vast majority of them are a complete waste of your time and money.

Let give a very valuable hint right now:

'No matter what the website or advert says about how easy it is to make dollars, it will always be much more difficult...... but usually still possible'.

Consider these following points when choosing a turn-key business:

The Product - Are you proud to represent the product? Trying to sell, and trying to get others to join you and sell a product you don't believe in is a mistake. Your goal should always to be help others improve their lives, whether as a consumer of the product or as someone building their business dreams by joining you as a seller (called distributor).

Also, is it a product people want and can't walk into their local WalMart and purchase of the shelf?

Training - For most people, a turn-key business is there first venture into working for themselves and so they need all the training they can get. Training should include

- how to sell

- how to get people interested

- how to advertise

- where to advertise

- how to communicate with existing and potential team members

- how to follow up

Training should also include periodic teleseminars or webinars, where you can join in and learn from experts, ask questions and if your lucky even listen in as 'warm' prospects are called at home.

Selling Tools - As part of your membership, you should receive tools to help you run your business. Hopefully they include one website or more, advertising materials, an automated email follow-up system and perhaps even leads (a list of people for you to contact about the business). Existing is not enough, they have to look professional.

A Fair Earnings Structure - They are usually difficult to understand at best, but at least know what you have to do to start earning an income. Some M.L.M's require you to have a large team of distributors before you see a dime in earnings - too difficult if your starting out.

Low Start-Up Costs - I'm not saying a high start-up costs are a bad thing. But don't invest more than you can afford. It will be a steep learning curve and beginning with something a little less expensive is a good way to get started. I'm talking $30-$100/month.

A turn key business is how I got started and although I have expanded my business to include many other sources of revenue, it was a very good starting point and still earns me a check every month.

Next time I'll outline the basic strategy you need to follow to build your turn-key business.

Until next time, remember persistence pays off - BIG TIME.
