In this day and age, the Internet is becoming a tool for billions of people from all corners of the globe to find all of the information that they need. With the convenience of search engines, the vast majority of those who surf the web use them to find what they are looking for. (Approximately 90% of all web surfers use them) Hence, many webmasters and companies focus on SEO or search engine optimization to get their web sites promoted to the top of the search engine listings so that they can reach a wider audience and generate more traffic. One way to get higher search engine rankings is to get a lot of quality back links and to have high link popularity (number of back links).
Pixel advertising is one of the best ways to advertise online and get links to your web site. It is an idea that had caught on with sites such as the million dollar homepage and dozens of others that sell thousands and even millions of dollars worth of links and provide value to their advertisers. Sure they can get expensive at a rate of $1 a pixel or $100 for 100 pixels, usually the minimum amount that can be bought, but it is well worth the price if you have the budget.
